W e have evolved into a European estate styled winery where the land defines the character of the fruit and the subsequent quality and character of the wine. As the vineyard continues to mature we see very interesting qualities emerging year over year. This is the critical element in the development of our house style which is European inspired wines from our regional varietals with distinctive character and balance.
We primarily grow French hybrid grapes to make Röbller wines. These hybrids have specific characteristics to overcome many of the unique climatic challenges we face in Missouri Wine Country. Our goal is to create wines that stylistically align with the parent grape or our varieties and the regions they originate from.
Every great wine begins in the vineyard which is no different here at Robller Vineyard. Our deep river bluff soil and south facing slope has given our plants the ability to develop vast root systems bringing the land character into each vintage. From bud break to harvest we strive to treat the land with respect to create a sustainable vineyard. From harvest to bottling it is critical to maintain an approach that exacts the very best wine we can make. What we have learned over the past 25 years of growing is that each vintage brings more interesting fruit than the last and that being innovative while keeping close ties to the past is critical in creating consistent quality in each of our wines.
Innovation from our point of view focuses on fruit handling techniques during the process, yeast selections that both complement and enhance fruit character and structure, well managed fermentation environment and traditional aging utilizing locally grown and produced oak barrels for the proper maturation of our barreled wines.
